Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to get my order once I place it? All paintings offered as reproductions have been scanned in at a high resolution and are stored and ready to be printed when an order is received. They are created on demand, usually printed within 2 days of receipt of the order, then another day is required for the UV spraying before being packaged for mailing. Typical time frame is a week.

Why are they referred to as "prints", then "reproductions", and also "giclees". There is a lot of incorrectly used terminology going around and I often am guilty of doing this. A "print" in the truest sense is an original piece of art often created on a press, however there are many other ways. The word "print" has been used to refer to photographs over the years and that may be where some of the mis-use began. My images that I create from my original paintings are reproductions. A 'giclee" is a type of ink jet process used to make reproductions...."giclee" is a French word meaning "sprayed ink".

How long will the color last? The technology behind today's inkjet inks is amazing. Many reputable companies state that with expected proper care, the colors will stay true as long as the original painting will....probably more years than we will be around to prove them wrong. I use only high-quality brands of ink. However, that being said, if someone purchases a reproduction of mine and the color does fade, I will replace it free of charge.

What is proper care of a reproduction? Treat it the same way you treat an original painting. Frame it correctly, using acid-free materials, place it behind glass and out of direct sunlight, and of course away from excessive humidity.
