A selected number of Marguerite
Bride’s original paintings are the basis for an entirely new type
of presentation and medium. Bride’s work is now engraved in stone,
literally, and painted with a new, vivid sense of presence.
Working
with Barbara Sample at RGile Engravers in Pittsfield, a high
resolution digital image of a painting is engraved onto a piece of
granite. The result at this initial point is white on black, but
it doesn’t stop there. The artist personally applies paint to
selected areas of the image, which is then sealed and polished.
Each granite painting, even those of the same scene, is unique and
original.
Besides
hanging and just enjoying it as a work of art, art on granite is
suitable for use in kitchen and bathrooms as unique backsplashes.
Multi-tile murals will also be created using this process.
And if
you have had a house portrait done by Bride, imagine a small
plaque hanging by your door with an engraved painted image of your
home. Custom orders are welcome.
