Berkshire Naturals - Watercolors by Marguerite Bride

   This website presents many of the paintings I have done over the past few years. Most have been inspired by years of living in New England. There are scenes from the Berkshires (my western Massachusetts home), Rhode Island (my childhood home), Cape Cod and the islands, bustling marketplaces, street scenes, quaint villages, farmlands, landscapes and seacoast.
     Lately, my paintings seem to have fallen into two major areas of interest....House Portraits and "Local Color".
     Painting someone's castle (whether a 2 bedroom bungalow or a mansion) is more than just depicting a structure in paint; it also involves capturing it's charm and personality. It can be likened to painting a person's portrait.
    While I don't tend to travel very much, where ever I do go I'm always looking for that special something that gives the locale its personality, it's "local color", its identity.
